With students from over 20 countries, there is no better place to hold a simulation of the European Parliament than ECLA. The topic of debate at the simulation held here last week was Turkey’s candidacy for membership in the EU – part of the overarching theme of this year’s Annual Conference: EU Enlargement. More than ten students traveled from universities across the continent to take part in the special week at ECLA. The final vote? Tomaz Cebasek, who helped organize the event, says “when the vote was taken according to the countries they were representing, Turkey didn’t get in, but in the second vote – when the roles were dropped – Turkey made it.”
