Michael Weinman is Professor of Philosophy at Bard College Berlin since 2013, after originally arriving as a Guest Professor in 2010. Michael received his doctorate in Philosophy in 2005 from The New School for Social Research in New York. He is the author of two books. One accounts for the role of pleasure in Aristotle's ethical thought; the other explores the relevance of Virginia Woolf's experimentation with narrative for debates about subjectivity in continental philosophy. His third book, an investigation of the Parthenon as an education in the liberal arts co-authored with Bard College Berlin faculty member Geoff Lehman, is under contract to be published in SUNY Series in Ancient Greek Philosophy from SUNY Press. Michael also has published articles and book chapters on Ancient Greek science, especially mathematics, and on themes in contemporary, especially Continental, political philosophy. His current recent interests include the connection between dialectic and rhetoric in Aristotle’s thought and the relevance of Aristotle’s model of public deliberation for contemporary debates about the morality and the politics of boycotting
